RSMT was successfully applied to reconstruct two soccerfields in Van Cortlandt Park, the Bronx, NY. The City of NY needed to dredge the silted-in lake in the park. The City was planning to pay for disposal of City yardwaste, Zoo manure and sediment from the park lake and then buy topsoil to reconstruct two soccerfields in the park. RSMT allowed these materials to be recycled into needed topsoil at substantial reduced cost, saving the City considerable money. The dredged material was removed from the lake, processed, dewatered and blended with City ground and screened yardwaste and animal manure compost (Zoo Doo) from the Bronx Zoo (Pictures to the left). This is a great example of recycling three residual wastes from on-going City activities (yardwaste collection and disposal and Zoo maintenance) and restoration of the park lake and ending up with two soccerfields for the community.
